The Pros And Cons of Oil Dehydration Methods

Publish Date 2010-11-25
Nowadays, CENTRIFUGE, COALESCER and VACUUM DEHYDRATION are the 3 ways that mostly employed to remove water contaminants from oil.

For removing water contaminants, the disadvantage of a centrifuge is that it can only deals with Free Water (>200ppm), and has little to do with Emulsified and Dissolved Water.

A Coalescer removes water very quickly, but it also has the same problem, only removing Free Water. Therefore, if you want to reduce the water to about 50 ppm, the only choice is Vacuum Dehydration.

The Vacuum Dehydration process can treat water in all 3 states (Free, Emulsified and Dissolved), but it also has its own drawback. If the Free Water in oil is too much, the drying process will last long.

To minimize these disadvantages and improve dehydration efficiency, our Oil Purification Systems use both Coalescer Filtering and Vacuum dehydration to remove water. Coalescer can take off free water rapidly and Vacuum Dehydration can remove emulsified and dissolved water thoroughly. At present, this is the most effective way to handle high volume of water contents in oil.
